Our Story: A Legacy of Passion and Innovation
Nestled in the heart of the Acadian basin, our journey began long before our orchard took root. For two centuries, this land had been shaped by the hard work and dedication of local farmers. Then, in 1932, during the darkest days of the Great Depression, a vision was born.

Sébastien Bourgeois, a successful entrepreneur who had built a life in the United States, returned to his village driven by a powerful motivation: to create jobs and contribute to the future of his community. He saw potential in the rich soil and unique agroclimatic conditions that were perfect for apple cultivation. The rolling clay loam hills, the moderating influence of the Bay of Fundy, and the resilient apple trees already dotting the landscape convinced him that this was the place for a thriving orchard.

And so, with a spirit of determination, Sébastien and others planted their first 100 apple trees, focusing on McIntosh and Cortland varieties. They named the orchard Verger Beauséjour, a tribute to the beauty of the land and its bright future.

A Generational Legacy
In 1956, the orchard passed into the hands of the Congrégation de Sainte-Croix, with Father Azarias Massé overseeing its care. Under his guidance, the orchard flourished, earning the new name Verger Belliveau, because of its location in Belliveau-Village.

When Father Massé retired in 1967, one of his trusted employees, Louis Bourgeois, purchased the orchard, and the family legacy continued. His son, Robert, took the reins next, ensuring the orchard’s continued success.

Now, nearly a century later, under the stewardship of Robert’s son, Samuel, the orchard has grown to include over 110,000 apple trees across 110 acres. We are proud to be one of Atlantic Canada’s leading apple producers, offering over twenty varieties of apples and an expanding range of products, including sweet cider, hard cider, and several award-winning wines.
